Indigenous Psychology: Grounding Science in Culture,Why and How?

My agenda is to ground psychological science in culture by using complex rather than overly simple models of culture and using indigenous categories as criteria of a translation test to determine the adequacy of scientific models of culture. I first explore the compatibility between Chinese indigenous categories and complex models of culture, by casting in the theoretical framework of symmetry and symmetry breaking (Bolender, 2010) a series of translations performed on Fiske's (1991) relational models theory. Next, I show how the dimensional approach to culture, prevalent in mainstream psychology, fails the translation test. Ethical implications of this analysis for cross cultural psychology are discussed.     

The household inventory as urban ‘theatre’ in late medieval Burgundy

In 1413 at the death of his wife Guillemot, Jean Aubert, a group of witnesses and a clerk of the local mayoralty met to value the possessions of their residence, resulting in an inventory full of notes and values on rooms and their objects. Within the existing historiography of the Burgundian Netherlands and its northern European neighbours, inventories and their objects tend to be analysed from two perspectives: the Burgundian court and the ‘consumer revolution’. Applying insights from Erving Goffman and Bruno Latour, this article suggests a third perspective should have priority: the urban ‘theatre’ within which objects were documented and placed. Therefore it sets up an alternate methodology which begins with the inventory to build a picture of the theatre (the urban context and residence), the actors (the Aubert family) and the audience (the witnesses of the inventory) to establish new insights into the operation of Burgundian power and the dynamics of the ‘consumer revolution’.

得失参半的创新之作——《剑桥中国文学史》评议

《剑桥中国文学史》旨在打破以往文学史写作中的习惯性范畴,开创新的文学史范式。其中最引人注目的是它特殊的"文学文化史"的书写姿态,立足于在文化史的背景下考察中国文学的发展进程。这种书写策略为我们认识文学史提供了新的视角与方法,但并没有在全书中得到全面的贯彻。《剑桥中国文学史》的文学史分期方式也引人注目,某些基于文学文化史立场的分期方式显得新颖别致。全书的文学史分期方式并没有统一的标准,也存在着按世纪、朝代为文学史分期的现象。由于全书的编者热衷于探求"过去的文学"原貌,在实践中往往对某些重要作家作品叙述较少,而对次要的文学现象评价过高。这种迥异于时流的评价可新人耳目,但有些评价是出于臆测,并没有坚实的依据。     

大学生学科文化自信培育的价值逻辑及路径探析 ——以河北工程大学地球科学与工程学院为例

学科文化是学科的灵魂，是学科不断发展创新的精神源泉和内在动力。学科文化自信是文化自信的重要组成部分，培育大学生文化自信应着眼全局，整体推进。学科文化自信与文化自信具有统一性，与核心价值观培育具有同构性，与担当民族复兴大任具有生成性。培育大学生学科文化自信，要深入挖掘和整合学科文化内涵，不断创新和发展培育手段，最终达到浸润和形塑博学自信的新时代大学生的目标。学科文化自信的培育可以达到激发学生学术热情，促进学生和学科全面发展，弘扬社会主义核心价值观，坚定理想信念以及践行使命担当的效用。     

新中国十七年图像文化研究的学术史回顾

随着20世纪80年代西方的图像文化史作为新兴的研究方法进入中国,中国不同历史时期的图像文化生产与传播备受研究者的关注。同时,西方图像学研究为各类文学、美术、电影等作品的解读提供了较为充分的理论支持,研究者把图像学理论与文本分析有机结合,展开了艺术学与文化研究的批评实践。"十七年"时期的图像文化具有独特的历史与美学价值,目前已经成为学界研究的热点,有进行学术史回顾与反思的必要。通过对现有的"十七年"时期图像文化研究成果的整合分析,可以展现中国图像文化研究的最新进展以及西方图像学方法在中国的本土化实践。     

新媒体流行文化中意识形态的隐性线路及问题检视

新媒体流行文化将受众建构成"媒介真实"里各种可能的关系主体与利益主体,影响其生活观念、身份认知、社会态度、实践行为、社群关系和共享信仰,带来受众意识形态认知被代理、社会共同体关系与意识形态实践秩序被解构、信仰取向异化、社会共同基础弱化等潜在问题与风险。以"良善意志"参照系建构、"实用美德"建设、"主体间关系"平衡等显性操作,强化新媒体文化中意识形态共识的认知理性、实践理性和价值理性,突破意识形态问题的惯常认知心理框架与隐性线路,妥善消解其潜在的矛盾与风险,亦可为新时代互联网意识形态问题的研究与治理提供一种新思维。     

美好抑或悲哀:旅游演艺的文化真实性研究

文化是旅游演艺的灵魂,旅游演艺即为通过对真实的地域文化进行抽离、截取、裁剪等艺术性加工所形成的具有舞台美感的旅游表演,并使真实的文化转变成舞台上的文化。由于利益诉求不同,旅游演艺相关各方对于文化真实性的关注角度存在一定差异。旅游演艺在对地域文化进行艺术加工的同时,也在对地域文化进行着解构与重构。地域文化真实性在解构与重构过程中发生改变,也使得旅游演艺相关各方对文化真实性产生了不一样的理解。尽管地域文化真实性因旅游演艺的介入而发生变化这一客观事实引起了一定的悲哀性慨叹,但总体而言旅游演艺重构或生产"新文化"这一过程既是美好的现实,更是美好的"真实",另外,这类"新文化"同样值得尊重,其是地域文化变迁过程中的真实性存在。     

金平傣族多重信仰文化探析

金平傣族是一个跨中越边境而居的特殊族群，可细分为白傣、黑傣、普洱傣以及曼仗傣等四个亚族群。由于历史渊源、分布地域的不同以及社会文化的差异等原因，其信仰文化具有与其他地区的傣族不尽相同的特征。本文在长期深入细致的田野调查的基础上，对金平傣族的多重信仰文化进行初步探析，认为金平傣族的信仰文化呈现出以民间信仰和南传佛教信仰为主、兼有道教文化以及儒家文化信仰的多重信仰文化的特色，这实际上是多种信仰文化长期交融与变迁的结果。这一结论有助于改变以往学界对傣族似为“全民信教”（信仰佛教）或“双重信仰”（民间信仰与佛教信仰）的简单化认识。     

‘Becoming’ a possible threat: masculinity,culture and questioning among unaccompanied young men in Sweden

A debate on masculinity and immigration rose across Europe in 2015 after an incident with sexual harassments taking place in Cologne, Germany. The incident refuelled a debate positioning unaccompanied young men as a possible threat. This article is based on a research project where we during this time ethnographically followed 20 young men, having arrived in Sweden as ‘unaccompanied’ minors. The aim is to examine how the young men themselves talk about, reflect on and negotiate masculinity and gender during this period. The article concludes that masculinity cannot be approached as something stable easily being inherited or transferred from one’s origins. One difference for ‘unaccompanied’ young men is how conflicts or tensions emerging in relation to issues of gender and masculinity tend to be interpreted differently, and publicly, putting the young men in a ‘gendered situation of questioning’.
